Beauty breakdown: 5 Make-up products to add a hint of glam to your holiday look

You don’t need an excuse to put on some glitter or a bold lip, but it doesn’t hurt that NYE is just around the corner. Chances are you already have an outfit in place for all the celebration. So consider this an expert-approved guide to glitz up your party look.

M.A.C Pigment – Copper Sparkle, INR 2,200

This multipurpose loose glitter pigment is a holiday season staple for most make-up artists. It can be used as eyeshadow, eyeliner, body glitter and even on the lips. Make-up artist Vardhan Nayak suggests you keep this pigment in your bag if you have plans after work. “Dampen the brush slightly and pick up the pigment. Dab the brush on your inner corner and outer corner only. It is an instant pick me up for your eyes” Add an extra coat of mascara and you’re good to go!

Huda Beauty Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette – Topaz, INR 2,495

Celebrity make-up artist Ayesha Seth swears by this palette for the holidays. “To amp up your make-up, just use the bronze or gold shadow from the palette as a brow highlight instead of the lid. Dab the excess on your cupid’s bow. Another little trick I like is to use the same glitter on the collar bones and the decolletage.”

Kiko Milano Glitter Eyeliner, INR 790

Nayak firmly believes that every woman can pull off a sparkly eye. Here’s his take on an easy cut-crease: “A cut crease is when you use a contrasting shade to define the crease of the eyes, leaving it un-blended. If done right, this gives the illusion of the perfect almond-shaped eyes. Apply a base shadow, draw a line with a glitter eyeliner across your crease.” Another trick is to draw an outline on your regular eyeliner for a dual winged eyeliner look.

Kay Beauty Metallic Lip Topper – Cover Girl, INR 699

Seth loves this trend callback from the ‘90s. She says, “This lip topper has a more foil finish and less frosty look. It gives the illusion of a fuller lip and adds a bit of shimmer. Layer it over your lip colour for an after-work round of drinks or even a last-minute dinner plan!”

Benefit Cosmetics Badgal Bang Mascara – Blue, INR 2,390

This trick seems OTT but Nayak promises it is a versatile tool to have in your make-up bag. “One coat of blue mascara immediately brings attention to your eyes–the bright azure shade opens up dark or hazel eyes. Another trick: apply some mascara close to your roots or to ends of your hair. Use hairspray to seal it in.”
