6 females Sonam Kapoor is proud to call her role models

This women’s day Sonam Kapoor took some time out to credit the women in her life that helped her become the woman she is today. In an Instagram post the actress wrote, “This has been an incredibly significant year for women around the world. As we continue to stand united and speak out against inequality and injustice, we will grow stronger! I’m lucky enough to have had incredible female role models in my life and today, on Women’s Day, I pay homage to them all.”

There’s no denying that equality is the conversation; banding together and supporting each other is the only solution. And while Sonam may be a role model and fashion icon to countless girls, the actress has certainly been shaped by these powerful females.

It’s no surprise her sister Rhea and mother made the list. Sonam has always credited her mother, a former costume designer, for her style sense. Rhea is not only her sister, but also her personal stylist and business partner in their clothing brand. Sridevi, the actress’ late aunt and an icon of the industry, no doubt inspired Sonam in her career.

Madhubala, another legend in Hindi cinema made the list. Frida Kahlo, another strong female who pioneered in her field as an artist, touched Sonam’s life, no doubt with her body of work that challenged questions of race, gender and class.

Unsurprisingly, the French fashion designer and businesswoman, Coco Chanel has influenced Sonam. Her ageless sense of style, smart business sense and relatable quotes have something of a cult following amongst fashionistas.
