If you thought the content in June was promising, then July will most definitely over-deliver. With the pandemic still keeping us indoors, escaping reality with a good film or a show helps. Answering our collective prayers, OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney + Hotstar are all set to release some fresh new series and movies. From comedy and drama to action and mystery, there’s something for everyone.

1. Never Have I Ever Season 2 (Netflix)

Mindy Kailing’s hit rom-com teenage drama is back with its second season. If you haven’t watched the first, there’s time to catch up. Without giving any spoilers, the storyline follows a young Indian girl, Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), who navigates her adolescent life in America, which includes love triangles, friendships and high school theatrics.

2 Atypical Season 4 (Netflix)

In the 4th and the last season of Atypical, Sam (Keir Gilchrist) will go through a new set of challenges. As an individual with autism, Sam has so far conquered the everyday issues in high school and home. Now it’s time for him to go to college, leaving his family, the largest support system in his life, behind.

3. Virgin River Season 3 (Netflix)

Virgin River is a feel-good show for when you want to put your feet up and relax. It’s the story of a nurse who moves to a small town after a personal tragedy and meets a war veteran who is dealing with his own PTSD. The third season focuses on their changing relationship and its effect on the residents of the countryside.

4. The Tomorrow War (Amazon Prime) 

The world learns about a new danger when a group of time travellers from 2051 deliver a shocking message. Thirty years in the future, the human race is predicted to lose a war against the aliens. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and non-military folks from the present to be transported to the future to fight evil. Chris Pratt is amongst the selected civilians who is determined to save the world for his young daughter.

5. Toofan (Amazon Prime)

Farhan Akhtar is back on screen with this action-packed drama film, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. In this movie, he plays a roadside gangster who seeks redemption and changes his life to become a professional boxer. With a power-packed cast that includes Paresh Rawal as the coach and Mrunal Thakur as the female lead, the movie looks like a complete entertainer.

6. Haseena Dilruba (Netflix)

In this interesting thriller, Taapsee Pannu plays the character of a wife who overnight turns into a murder suspect after the death of her husband. The unpredictable tale of love and lust with a whole lot of mystery should definitely be on your must-watch list.
