The couple’s engagement was announced 5 years later at Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday but their happiness was short-lived as the engagement ended due to reasons best known to them. Soon enough, rumours about difference in their families' being the reason started doing the rounds. Jaya Bachchan stated in an interview that the families should not be held responsible as it was Abhishek’s decision which he painfully took on his own. Now, Abhishek Bachchan is happily married to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Karishma Kapoor lives with her 2 children after her divorce with husband Sanjay Kapoor.

With so much history between them, though, there are still strong feelings there. They were almost inseparable for their first two years together,” the report read. “But in recent months they have really started to drift apart and have been spending less and less time together." The couple started dating after the Twilight star attended her concert in London back in September 2014 and got engaged 7 months later.
