After a lot of will-they-won’t-they teasing, fans finally saw the coupling they wanted between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. After Jon proved his loyalty to Dany, at great political cost, she knew he was on her side for good. So after they secured a truce with Cersei Lannister (or so they thought) Jon came to her room and they very nakedly had sex.
Unfortunately, their rendezvous came on the heels of Bran and Sam’s tête-à-tête, during which the two realized that Dany and Jon are actually related. Bran knows from his Three-Eyed Raven travails that Jon is not actually the bastard son of Ned Stark, as all his family had been led to believe, but the bastard son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Yet Sam had another shocker to deliver, because Gilly found a septon’s old diary that revealed Rhaegar and Lyanna actually got married, making Jon a legitimate son of the Targaryen house. Bran used his powers to verify the fact, and BOOM! One of Game of Thrones’ most important and longstanding theories was finally confirmed: R(haegar) + L(yanna) = J(on). And he’s the heir to the Iron Throne. And his name is Aegon Targaryen.
Meanwhile, though, Jon and Dany were consummating the passion that has brewed between them for quite a while now. While it might have been satisfying (ahem) for them, for viewers who knew what their real relationship is, it was rather icky.
