Designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla are one of the few designers who have managed to remain relevant even over three decades of launching their couture label. Since their eponymous label’s inception in 1986, the duo continue to break molds and play a pioneering role in shaping the Indian fashion industry. All set to launch today, the celebrated designers will mark their 33 years in fashion by showcasing not one but three brand new collections. A fashion forward and gender fluid menswear label titled Mard, AJSK Couture and Khosla Jani—which will primarily focus on extravagant party and western wear.
While their sensibility has always been rooted in classical elegance, they haven’t shied away from embracing the future through the reinvention of technique, craft and silhouette. But at the end of the day, it ultimately is about a reverence for beauty, finesse and detail for them. All three new collections exude beauty and charm, and is infused with their relentless passion for constant innovation.
The fashion forward collections will feature classics like anarkalia, stellar gowns, big-ish lehengas and saris, accompanied by the duo’s signature chikankari embroidery. The collection will also see oodles of fun volume and layering, appliques, and dazzling Swarovski embellishments throughout the creations.
With a journey that’s filled with several milestones—being the first to use chiffon, georgette and organza, dressing the likes of Dame Judi Dench and Beyoncé and more; tonight’s show (celebration) will only add to the list.
