Aditi Rao Hydari uses milk to wash her face, and she swears it works

Aditi Rao Hydari’s flawless skin and luminous glow may make you believe that the actress has been honing her make-up game for years, but she sheepishly admits that she had no idea how to even apply lipstick before she moved to Mumbai. Preferring to go natural, the Murder 3 actress revealed in an interview that she washes her face with milk whenever she can to get that fresh look. In an attempt to discover more of her secrets, we caught up with the star at Swatch X You’s latest collection launch where she spoke to us about everything from fashion and fitness to beauty and Bollywood.
Your favourite style statement?
At the moment, it’s oversized sweaters.
Your fitness regime?
I switch between functional training, Pilates and yoga. Depending on what my body needs.
Your go-to healthy eating snack?
I make a vegan protein drink with chia, berries and nut butter. I drink that as a mid-morning meal. I also love to munch on makhana (toasted lotus seeds).
One food recipe you can easily whip up at home?
Creamy scrambled eggs with truffle. Hyderabadi ande ka khagina. And dosas.
Your skincare ritual?
It’s mostly about listening to my skin and making sure it’s well hydrated… I use a lot of stuff from the kitchen on my skin (like milk as a face wash).
Your go-to beauty look?
Clean, raw eyes; dewy skin; stained lips and cheeks.
One beauty hack you learnt from the industry?
I learn a lot from make-up artists Tanuja Dabir and Elton Fernandez. When I came to Mumbai 7 years ago, I didn’t even know how apply lipstick properly.
5 things that are always in your purse?
My phone, brow kit, keys, Kailash Jeevan and hand sanitiser.
What are you currently reading?
My script… I’m trying to mug it.
One Bollywood actor you admire?
Vidya Balan. She has always been unique and has been celebrated for being confident about her talent as an actor.
Your favourite travel destination?
London in the summer… it’s a happy familiar place and the perfect mix of history and modernity.
Your favourite watch from the new Swatch x You collection?
The one I made. The permutations and combinations are endless… it’s like a box of crayons and an blank wall to draw on.
