Aditya Roy Kapoor’s fitness secrets

On day 3 of Lakmé Fashion Week, we met a rather chiselled Aditya Roy Kapoor – showstopper for Tom Tailor, presented by Jabong.com – in cool-and-casual leather jacket. “I don’t really wear leather jackets too much,” he says awkwardly when we suggest he made the perfect clothes horse for the label. “But this was nice and easy,” he adds, grinning.

The diet that’s helping him shed the pounds: “I am on a diet, but it’s not too strict. I’m still eating my carbs, but I’m eating them three times a day. And good forms – like I eat oats in the morning, a lot of brown rice and quinoa. Also, I’m watching what I eat because I’m needed to drop dome weight for a role I’m doing. It’s been a tough, long process, but that’s what it involves. Watching your food, is more than 50 per cent of the battle. I kind of eat 5-6 times a day, small meals, high protein, also a lot of fibre.”

The workout he sticks to: “For a while I was working out twice a day; working out in the morning and running in the evening, but it’s a little less intense now. I like running, just about 15-20 minutes, not too much, or you start losing muscle.”

The one thing he doesn’t take for granted: “Sleep is very important as well. If you have to work out in the morning you cant be lethargic when you hit the gym. Sleep is underrated. You don’t realise how much it affects you.”
