The Akash Ambani engagement festivities spilled over from a quiet proposal in Goa to an all-out Bollywood bash in Mumbai, with the film industry’s brightest stars making the pilgrimage to the 27-floor, billion dollar skyscraper the Ambanis call home in Mumbai’s Altamount Road. The bride-to-be Shloka Mehta looked considerably more glam, though if you were expecting the billionaire diamond heiress to be decked out in enough blingy baubles to signal Mars, you’d be wrong. Shloka, as we’ve pointed out earlier, is remarkably low-key, a stark departure from India’s heiress clan.
Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar made sure to get their photographs shot with the happy couple (we were wondering if Shloka is a Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham fan, but then, isn’t everybody?). Katrina Kaif looked pretty as a peach in a soft pink dress worn with nude heels, while Kiran Rao wore a mustard jacket over a dress with metallic panels, very on trend.
The award for the most Extra Attendee of the night goes to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who went full tilt in a black gown with a plunging neckline. Once a pageant queen, always a pageant queen, eh?
