Alexander Wang has become the latest designer to announce he will no longer be showing at New York Fashion Week. According to The New York Times, Wang, who made a statement last NYFW when he hosted his party in Bushwick, will be moving his shows from the typical February and September schedule to the precollection months, June and December.
The company’s announcement stated that the precollection and main collections will be combined into one, and the label’s products will be divided into monthly deliveries between October and March and April and September, according to the Times.
The move also means Wang now joins the handful of New York designers who have left the official New York Fashion Week schedule. Others include Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Altuzarra and Rag & Bone.
However, this isn’t the only recent change for Alexander Wang; this past October, Lisa Gersh replaced Wang as CEO of the company. But we’ll have to wait to see if these precollection shows mean fewer Brooklyn fashion raves in our future.
