All of Daenerys Targaryen’s hot boyfriends, ranked from best to worst

Daenerys Targaryen might not have the best luck when it comes to getting people to bend the knee, or keeping all three of her dragons alive at the same time (R.I.P. Viserion, gone too soon), but she has got a pretty great track record of dating really hot dudes. From her first husband, Khal Drogo, to her latest incest-tinged conquest in Jon Snow, Khaleesi seems to attract a fairly handsome and (for the most part) valiant crowd of eligible men.

That being said: not all boyfriends are created equal. Some tall, dashing and fearless knights/kings/loyal servants are more desirable as husbands and dragon step-fathers than others, and others should be avoided altogether.

Here, we rank all of Dany’s boyfriends—both past, present and future—from best to worst.

5. HIZDAHR ZO LORAQ, REBOUND

GoT 3

It’s pretty easy to put Hizdahr zo Loraq in last place (recap: he was the dude Daenerys agreed to marry in Meereen), as he’s fairly forgettable. In addition being an arranged match, Dany never really expressed any attraction to the man, so poor old Hizdahr got the chop quick smart.

4. DAARIO NAHARIS, SIDE PIECE

GoT 4

Daario might have been a bit of a cocky floozy, but he and Dany did enjoy a pretty passionate relationship for a while. Between their iconic sex scene, and their cute banter, Daario provided some easy, commitment-less and consensual entertainment for Dany. Unfortunately he did get a little obsessive and possessive, so the Queen had to kick him to the curb.

3. SER JORAH MORMONT, ERRAND BOY

GoT 5

Jorah and his Khaleesi’s relationship is pretty one-sided, if we’re honest. Even though Jorah is head-over-heels for the Queen, Dany has always been quite cool on him. That being said, there is a bond between them that has been strengthened by Jorah throwing himself in front of danger and sacrificing himself for her.

And, although it might not be real love for Dany (yet?), there is some genuine affection, as evidenced by the ‘Return to me’ line she threw him in season six.

2. JON SNOW, KING IN THE NORTH

GoT 6

Dany and Jon’s divisive romance is only in its very beginnings, but we think shirtless hand-holding counts as a firm step towards boinking later. Being in its early stages, and being controversial in nature (they are related, which complicates things for some viewers), Jon and Daenerys’ future-relationship is not exactly certain, but their few sweet scenes in season seven are leading us to believe that they have a bright—if not a little gross—future.

Plus, fighting side-by-side against the undead is some bond-forging stuff.

1. KHAL DROGO, KHAL OF THE GREAT GRASS SEA

GoT 7

As far as significant others go, Khal Drogo is probably the most significant. Although Drogo and Dany got off to a rough start (to say the absolute damn least), the relationship between them at the time of his passing was consensual, powerful and real. Despite going into their marriage not thinking very much of Dany, Drogo comes to love and respect her, even going so far as to promise to win her a crown.

Add in the fact that Drogo was the father of her cute baby, Rhaego, and the fact that Dany is still pained by his death so many years after, and you’ve got yourself some soulmate-level shit.
