All the beauty trends you need to try for SS18

Unlearn all your beauty rules

By Mamta Mody  March 9th, 2018

Spring/summer 2018 has no beauty rules—just a rainbow of colours, holographic glitter and lots of reasons to experiment. Pick from playful smears on the lid instead of chunky eyeshadow or trade your perfectly lined lip for a lived-in look, like you just walked out of a make-out session. Glitter is everywhere too-on the lids, lips and even on the lashes- so all you Instagram beauty lovers can live your unicorn dreams without being over the top.

SS18 make-up trends we love from the runways

Unlearn all the lipstick rules you’ve ever come across. This season, lip colour is meant to be smudged and lived-in, like you're right out of a make-out sesh. To create this look (without your SO), put on a creamy lipstick and lightly diffuse the outline with a brush—don’t bother correcting mistakes. Finish by dabbing gloss on the centre of your pout.

Extend the lines, make them chunkier, create shapes, and skip all kinds of charcoals and blacks to give your winged liner the 2018 update. Instead of trying to imitate a runway trend, customise the liner to suit your eye shape and style. If you get it wrong, wipe it off and start again—it’s just make-up after all.

Sparkle

The glitter looks from S/S 2018 runways sent Instagram into a tizzy. So, how do you own this magic? Tone down the eyeshadow and lipstick, in favour of iridescent shimmer. Concentrate all efforts on one feature, and wear a thick coat on your lashes, lips or lids—we’re filing it under music festival and wedding inspo.

Bright

Eyeshadow is the big focus this summer, and there’s no better way to own the trend than with a sunburst of colours. Pick anything from juicy yellow to neon green, or wear three colours at one go. Opt for painterly strokes or a playful smear—you can never go wrong.

Light

The spectrum for summer’s dewy skin goes from make-up-free freshness to a manufactured hyper-glow. Build the shine in layers using cream and powder-based highlighters. Dab them over or under your foundation, or simply mix them with your moisturiser. You can even choose a combination of different colours for your cheekbones and lids.
