Amit Aggarwal styles Kalki Koechlin as a dreamy queen in this new shoot

“Kalki is a ray of hope — a vision beaming through the haze; fresh, akin to a new wave,” says designer Amit Aggarwal, who has styled the Ribbon actress for his latest shoot with Aza. Shot amidst billows of coloured smoke, Kalki looks ethereal, bedecked in intricately embellished and handwoven ensembles that are fit for a modern-day bride.

“A modern day woman can style these with contemporary jewellery and all her confidence. She can wear it to her cocktail soiree, sangeet or even formal dinners,” suggests Amit.

Kalki wears a golden embellished lehenga choli and dupatta set with shoulder dusters.

Staying true to his aesthetic, each structured silhouette is detailed with handmade embellishment and strips of recycled polymer on silk, lace and handwoven fabrics. Vintage Banarasi saris play a major role, too.

Kalki’s structured look is completed with a statement neckpiece with feathers.

“‘Kalki’ is (the name of) the future avatar of Vishnu and my clothes always talk about the future with a strong inspiration from history,” says Amit. “The idea was to depict the emergence of a new wave — almost like a vision of hope appearing through layers of coloured smoke.”
