Anavila gives the trouser suit a sustainable update

Anavila closed Sustainable Fashion Day at Lakmé Fashion Week with her Autumn/Winter ’17 collection Blur. The spotlight shone on the handwoven saris—which were styled with trench coats and open shirts hung over the shoulders—and pleated trouser suits, all in linear and checkered prints.

A generous use of black was seen throughout, offset by tones like brown, wine, deep blue and grey, while leafy motifs in silver and golden lent some sheen to the garments. Indian crafts like floral patchwork, khatwa and hand block prints were judiciously used in the collection. Meanwhile, flutter sleeves and minute pleat detailing on the blouses added femininity to the silhouettes. The matching handmade bags completed the overall look.
