After the grim NH10, Anushka Sharma’s second turn as a producer-actor looks like a Disney-on-drugs version of Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride.
The movie is about a big fat Punjabi wedding, with a slight hitch. The groom accidentally gets married to a ghost after the bride’s family declares that he has to marry a tree first (because regressive social customs are hilarious, you guys). Turns out that he marries the ghost of Anushka Sharma who was the only female present at the time, ghost or otherwise. Phillauri is inclusive, if it’s not anything else, for sure.
Anushka’s feisty ghost, in all her bridal finery, announces that even she isn’t happy with this accidental union. Turns out her ghost has some unfinished business in the living world, namely an unfinished love story with the strapping Diljit Dosanjh set in the past.
