Apple’s big iPhone keynote event gets a date

The invites are out and the date is official: Apple’s big iPhone 8 event will be happening on September 12th, and we’ll finally get to see what the button-free, full-screen future of the the most iconic smartphone looks like.

There’s a lot on the menu for the Tuesday event, not least of which is the new iPhone, which may not be called the iPhone 8, but will likely have a full-screen face, no Home button, and a price tag of at least Rs 63,980.

Other expected announcements include a new Apple TV box that can handle 4K content as well as an Apple Watch with an LTE connection for internet on the go but also probably extremely short battery life. We’ll just have to wait and see if Apple has a solution to that problem.

In the meantime, the future of the iPhone looms larger than ever, and it’ll only be a couple of weeks before we find out exactly what it looks likeā€”and whether or not we can afford it.
