Are you watching YouTube star Mallika Dua?

You wouldn’t expect any self-respecting netizen to share a ‘Shit people say’ video in 2016. But newbie comedian Mallika Dua turned the ancient (in internet time) format into viral gold with a disarmingly funny Sarojini Nagar edition, that she made in association with Little Black Book. Playing every kind of Delhi shopper, from the confrontational corporate shark to the sweetly inappropriate newly-wed, the theatre grad shot to online stardom via manic shares and BuzzFeed’s approval. In her next video for TVF’s Girlyapa series, Dua played a friend-of-the-hot-girl demanding her fair share of the lecherous male gaze. Her perfect timing and endearing colloquialisms might have created a hungry fan base, but the 26-year-old isn’t pressured by the all the frantic love. “I like to take my time,” she says, holding on to her copywriting job for now and delaying the move to Mumbai till her creative requirements are met. “All the houses I saw had gross bathrooms. I need a really nice one because all great ideas happen on the throne.”

Follow @MallikaDua on Instagram for a peek at upcoming videos and a treasure of 90s Bollywood dubshamshes. Her father, TV journalist Vinod Dua , makes a fine co-star. Get a taste:
