Arjun Kapoor was all of 11 years when his father, Boney Kapoor, decided to marry Sridevi. And the strained father-and-son relationship left no space for Arjun to ever bond with his half-siblings, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. In an interview with Huffington Post in 2017, Arjun was asked about his relationship with his half-sisters. “We don’t really meet and spend time together so it doesn’t really exist,” is what he revealed. It’s only been a year since that interview, but Arjun and Janhvi’s relationship is now stronger than ever, sparked by the estranged families coming together to mourn Sridevi’s death.
Today marks the release of Janhvi’s debut film, Dhadak, and Arjun took to Twitter early morning, congratulating his half-sister on a job well done. “Janhvi u left me speechless so bloody proud of you,” he wrote.
It’s out today #Dhadak !!! @ShashankKhaitan has made a heart warming & yet gut wrenching love story….he’s handled the 2 Of them so deftly. Ishan u have nailed the simplicity & energy of a young kid who just sees purity in love Janhvi u left me speechless so bloody proud of u…

A month ago, when the film’s trailer was released, the 33-year-old passed on some honest advice to ensure Janhvi was all buckled up for the ride.
In a recent interview, Arjun spoke about his new relationship with his half-sisters, Janhvi and Khushi. “Honestly, we’re still figuring things out and picking up the pieces. I’m a really emotional person, so my emotions do come out [especially on social media]. So, you can say that my protective side comes around in those moments. I’ll continue to be that way as a brother and as somebody who’s always looking out for their best interest. But I still don’t have answers to a lot of things. Too much has happened and I wouldn’t wish these things even on my worst enemies. I’ve experienced it first-hand, so if I encompass everything in one answer, it would make the matter very small,” he was quoted as saying.

And this endearing love hasn’t been one-sided… Janhvi shared this on Arjun’s birthday last month, saying he was “the reason for our strength.” In another interview, Janhvi spoke about her relationship with Arjun, saying: “I’ve realised Arjun is very wise, just like dad. They can comfort and guide you in a way that many people can’t. It comes from experience and having made successful films. Everyone has always said such nice things about him and the way he’s been brought up. He values honesty and tells me to be respectful towards people.”
Going by Janhvi’s sweet post, it feels like she’s found the older brother she always wanted. And though Arjun already had a younger sibling, Anshula, his kind and considerate nature made space for two more sisters in his life. Ever since, the Kapoors have become one big family, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s wedding in May proved to be the best get-together for everyone to bond and make up for all the lost years.
