Ah-mazing glow: Need a tip to nail the lit-from-within glow and look like you haven’t tried? Pick a formula that suits your skin type. The general rule of thumb: powder highlighter works for oily skin, and crème or gel textures favour dry skin. For a blinding pop, we like to sweep a pearly powder illuminator over a creamy formula.

Beat the morning after bloat: “A slice of pineapple works when you’re feeling bloated in the morning. Celery juice, buttermilk, coconut water and eight hours of uninterrupted sleep will also soothe your tummy. Remember fried, packaged and processed foods are not your friends.”
-Radhika Karle, nutritionist and pilates trainer
Clutch bag essentials: A/W 2019’s micro bag trend will take you through every occasion on your social calendar, but you’ll need a make-up kit that fits the shrunken carryall as well. Luckily, make-up brands are onboard with this and have created perfectly portable miniatures of their classics for mid-party touch-ups.

Easy red lip: Matte, crimson red lips were the focal point for all A/W 2019 shows,
making it our go-to look for the yearend festivities. So how do you make sure your lipstick stays well past your second cocktail? Easy, dab the lip colour on and smudge it with your finger. Fill in the gaps with a liner, blot and dust with setting powder. Don’t worry about being too perfect; it’s all about a laidback lip.

–Dr Jaishree Sharad, cosmetic dermatologist and founder of Skinfiniti
Hydrate! Don’t forget, overindulging in the holiday season means your body needs to work extra hard to push out toxins. “For an instant cleanse, drink a glass of warm water, lemon juice and some cinnamon in the morning. Then, have apple cider vinegar and water before lunch and sip on mint and basil infused water through the day.”
–Karishma Chawla, nutritionist and lifestyle educator
Ice, ice, baby: Add some chill to your party prep with an at-home cryofacial to calm and depuff face. Wrap a few ice cubes in thin muslin and massage your face in upward motions. For a bonus brightening effect, try rose water ice cubes.
Join the pearl party: While jewelled hair clips have been around for a minute, it’s the embellished liner and pearlescent make-up finishes that caught our attention. Get creative by highlighting the inner corner of your eye with a tiny pearl (stick it with lash glue), and pair it with luminous eye tint.

Million-watt smile: “Eat a few cubes of cheese with the last glass of wine to balance the pH level of your saliva and stomach, saving you from dreadful morning breath. Avoid red wine teeth by opting for an in-clinic gum and teeth cleaning treatment. Follow that up with an athome, rinse-off teeth whitening gel.”
–Dr Sandesh Mayekar, cosmetic dentist
Not your average manicure: Whether you’re a nail painting pro or a novice, glitter is the way to go this holiday seaon. Use a make-up sponge to layer on your polish, it’ll absorb the base and add more chunks of shimmer on your mani. Finish off with a top coat and you’re good to go.

OMG…Gloss is back! The noughties were famous for skinny brows and sticky gloss. While we’re still staying away from painfully thin brows, gloss has made a comeback with non-tacky formulas. Quiet time Take a disco nap aka a 30-minute sleep sesh before you head out. Not only will this refresh you, but according to a 2015 study by the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (USA), it can reverse hormonal damage (read: tiredness and increase in hunger) from a poor night’s sleep.
“It’s no longer the flaky, stiff formula you may remember it as— hairsprays are wonderful, versatile products that can give hair UV and heat protection, depending on the formulation you pick. If you want a grungy, dishevelled look, try a salt based spray. Aerosol ones make it easy to tie your hair in a top knot or ponytail on the second day, if you’ve already curled it on the first. It’s the effect of the flexible, soft hold factor that gives makes your hairstyle last longer.”
–Natasha Naegamvala, hairstylist and director of Nalini of Nalini & Yasmin
Wella Professionals EIMI Ocean Spritz Salt Spray For Beachy Texture, INR 600
Surprise! They’re fake!
Forget glue residue and falsies, magnetic lashes are major at the moment. All you need is a curler and a lengthening mascara. Align the four tiny magnets, sandwiching your natural lashes between the top and bottom strips and you’re set.
NYX Worth The Hype Volumizing & Lengthening Waterproof Mascara, INR700
ENN Naturale Magnetic Eyelashes, INR1,050
Tackle the TATT face:
Cure a #TiredAllTheTime face by sleeping on your back; this reduces any puffiness that’s caused by gravity. Or, pop your eye cream in the fridge overnight, the cool (literally!) formula will have a soothing effect. In the mornings, give yourself a quick three minute face massage using your knuckles and a few drops of a serum.
Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Serum, INR5,495
Up your vitamins:
Arm yourself with a supplement that is rich in milk thistle (the plant is rich in an antioxidant called silymarin) that will give your liver a boost (alcohol damage, ugh) by repairing cells and calming inflammation.
Setu Liver Lift, INR 1,100
Va-va-voom complexion lifters:
Try Dr Kiran Sethi’s signature NY Facial 4D (INR32,000). “It entails microdermabrasion to get rid of dead skin cells, followed by the Clearlift 4D laser that erases pores and lines and gives your face a photofinish. Next, a LED light therapy boosts collagen synthesis, and we finish with a magic Vitamin C mask for an extra glow. With no downtime, and results that last months, what could be better?
–Dr Kiran Sethi, dermatologist and founder of Isya Aesthetics
Wrap it up:
There is no such thing as too many hair accessories, case in point: Ashley Graham at the Met Gala 2019. The model made heads turn with her bubble ponytail, which was wrapped up in pearl, barrettes, bows and rhinestone encrusted hair ties. Or, you can take inspiration from Katrina Kaif ’s ‘do, where hairstylist Amit Thakur kept things chic by wrapping a section of hair around the base of her ponytail.
“To help your make-up last longer in winter, prep skin with a good, hydrating moisturiser. Use a cream blush on the apples of the cheeks before doing your base and a liquid foundation after, to get a nice, healthy glow. Set it with a translucent powder but go light handed; overdoing it will cause cracks in the foundation.”
–Mitesh Rajani, make-up artist
Yes to dry shampoo!
The next best thing to a hair wash is an oil sucking dry shampoo that instantly absorbs excess grease and refreshes roots. And, for best results, we recommend flipping your hair upside down and spritzing your roots with the formula. Lift your head up, wait for 120 seconds and massage your scalp. Say hi to clean-looking, voluminous hair.
Rene Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo, INR 1,300
Zero hangovers (or at least we can try): “Have more lemon juice based drinks; the citric acid will fight the body’s acidic state and make it alkaline. Also, eat a light snack like egg on toast before drinking, it’ll keep you feeling full for longer.”
–Sumaya Dalmia, nutritionist and trainer at Sumaya
