Best of Day 3 at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015
These designers showed us how to get our basics right
Fashion can’t always be all about the drama. It needs simplicity, practicality and wearability – and Day 3 at LFW was filled with such winners.
Dhruv Kapoor took on the challenge of elevating the basic white shirt. Fitted with black mesh inserts and layered with a patent leather moto jacket, the look was far, far away from drab or safe or basic.
The LBD got a super sexy makeover at DRVV by Dhruv Kapur – double-breasted, reminiscent of Le Smoking and with flashes of skin.
Amrita Khanna and Gursi Singh, the duo behind Lovebirds, created a look that can easily go from gym to gig and from male to female. Thick jerseys, boxy T-shirts and almost-track pants showed us how comfort can be cool.
Munkee.see.Munkee.doo smartened up the summer suit by chopping off the sleeves, shortening the hems and adding pleats. The cool blue hues only make the light-as-air tailoring even more effortless.
Need a day dress that is pretty much a schedule chameleon? Try Nimish Shah’s khaki green dress for Shift. Add sneakers and a satchel for a day filled with errands, and vintage baubles with disco platforms for the night. Easy!
