Bollywood stars from Sonam Kapoor to Janhvi Kapoor are obsessed with juttis

Yes, it is incessantly raining in Mumbai, but Bollywood celebrities are not letting the weather dampen their (sartorial) spirits. Staying as far away as possible from ugly PVC shoes, stars like Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Janhvi Kapoor are ushering in a classic footwear style that’s making a comeback in a huge way. Confused? We’re talking about the much-loved juttis.

“Juttis have definitely made a comeback. The main reason for this would be because they are perfect for every occasion,” says Laksheeta Govil of Fizzy Goblet, a designer footwear label that’s the undisputed favourite among these stars. “Juttis strike a perfect balance between comfort and style. They aren’t the wear-once-and-store kind of footwear. Instead, they can be worn in any season for any occasion — be it a wedding or a casual brunch,” she adds.

Rightly said, for we noticed legions of celebrities skipping heels and preferring juttis for Sonam Kapoor’s wedding ceremonies in May. “Juttis are nifty for a wedding in any season — they’re super comfortable to dance in,” says Laksheeta. Keeping in mind the seasonal trends, Fizzy Goblet’s current collection takes inspiration from florals and pastels.

When it comes to styling, less is always more, believes Laksheeta. “And juttis serve that purpose really well. Their versatility allows you to dress your outfit up or down, and they can be teamed with daywear as well as evening wear, whether they’re printed or embroidered,” she says.

For a day look, Laksheeta suggests pairing it with a simple sun dress or denims. For a night out, style it with a jumpsuit and accentuate it with ethnic accessories. And if you’re looking for a fail-proof way to style them, opt for a pair of colourful beaded juttis, and wear it with an embroidered jacket over a basic tee and denim. For a traditional ensemble, go for a monotone kurta set with a floral printed pair of juttis.
