Bungalow 8 and ELLE present Geometricity

If you’re in Mumbai this weekend, consider your weekend plans sorted. The concept store Bungalow 8 is bringing a host of brands to The Vintage Garden, Bandra, but only for this weekend. The event is titled Geometricity, and you expect labels like Shift by Nimish Shah, Anavila, Jamini Ahluwalia, Olivia Dar, Aish by Nupur Goenka, Injiri by Chinnar Farooqi, 500 BC by Anandita Shah and Mathieu Gugumus Leguillon for The Bungalow – all of which will be putting out limited edition pieces crafted especially for the event. It’s a neatly curated edit of monochrome pieces with a splash of patterns. Plus, you might find a little something for your home in Bungalow 8’s interior line. Guest designer Mozez Singh will be showing too; he brings three exclusive furniture pieces (two of which will make their debut).

Actor Poorna Jagannathan and patron of the arts Monica Vaziralli play muse for the campaign. As it turns out, they have a lot in common – both call Bandra home, and both are known for their off kilter sense of style. In the campaign, they’re seen dressed in a frenzy of patterns, courtesy Mathieu Gugumus Leguillon’s special line for The Bungalow. Mumbai-based photographer Shoeb Mashadi makes beautiful black and white portraits which capture their understated elegance and free spirit in the comfort of Vaziralli’s cosy Bandra home. “I’m in love with the casualness and flair that the garments projected in the pictures,” says Vaziralli.

“Monochrome patterns can be challenging to some, but we wanted to capture a languid everyday-ness,” says ELLE’s fashion editor Nidhi Jacob, who styled the shoot. And it’s not hard to see why the two are completely at ease in the voluminous clothes. “You can’t go wrong with black and white, especially when Bungalow 8 added a whole lot of personality to this timeless combination with their graphic interpretations,” says Jagannathan.

Geometricity is on from December 20 to 21, 12.00pm to 8.00pm, at The Vintage Garden, Patkar Bungalow, 34D Turner Road, Bandra (West), Mumbai. Tel: 022 2640 2004
