Shanghai got a taste of London last week with the launch of the British fashion giant's flagship store in the city. Cara Delevingne flew, yes flew, down the runway with Burberry's signature check-print parasol in hand, à la Mary Poppins. But before the gravity-defying act by the supermodel, over 1,500 guests witnessed a show that had all the makings of a West End performance.
Against a backdrop (digital, of course), of London’s Regent Street merged with Shanghai’s skyline, British musician George Ezra performed 'Did You Hear The Rain?' as dancers emerged wearing Burberry trench coats and carrying umbrellas. A performance by musician Ed Harcourt and Paloma Faith followed, accompanied by models walking the runway in the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014-15 collection. The brand chose the occasion to preview their hand-painted Bloomsbury bag, which is now available for purchase and personalisation exclusively on Cn.burberry.com.
The new store, Burberry Kerry Centre, is the fourth store for the brand in Shanghai.
