Calvin Klein creates capsule collection for Mytheresa.com
Calvin Klein and Mytheresa.com are revisiting the ’90s and we aren’t complaining. The Re-Issue Project takes the most iconic jeans and reworks them to fit a more contemporary wardrobe.
“The capsule is all about nostalgia for the ’90s, and that whole look feeling very right again. It felt like the perfect time to reissue the brand’s iconic hits to a new generation,” said Kevin Carrigan, global creative director, Calvin Klein platinum label, Calvin Klein white label, Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear.
The collection, with washes ranging from pale ’80s ice-wash to ’90s stone grey, is available exclusively on the site. It consists of eight pieces, including the classic Kate Moss boyfriend tapered jeans, the high-waist skinny style made famous by Brooke Shields, as well as CK sweats, T-shirts and denim jackets. The collection features the younger Moss – Kate’s sister Lottie – photographed by Michael Avedon, grandson of the original Calvin Klein campaign portraitist.
On the occasion, Justin O’Shea, buying director of Mytheresa.com, said, “From the Herb Ritts photos of a then-unknown Kate Moss and rapper Marky Mark, to the iconic Richard Avedon portraits of a dew-faced Brooke Shields declaring, ‘Nothing comes between me and my Calvins’. For me there is one brand which epitomises clean American sportswear and denim – Calvin Klein Jeans.”
