Silvery grey is the new celebrity-approved colour for your Indian ethnic wear

50 shades of...?

By Shweta Gandhi  January 23rd, 2018

The wedding season sparked off a trend of muted neutral shades like ivory, off-white and beige, and now, there’s a new colour joining the league — silvery grey. Spotted on Bollywood stars attending red carpet events as well as weddings, this celebrity-approved colour is slowly taking over, replacing bright hues like vermilion and tangerine.

Embellished, embroidered or plain, this silvery grey shade has been seen on celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who were wearing a designer ensemble from Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Rimzim Dadu and Sabyasachi Mukherjee respectively. Pay close attention to how each designer has reinterpreted the muted shade in an aesthetic that’s true to their label. Sabyasachi, for example, adds a regal touch to Aishwarya’s ivory sari with a maroon Benarasi handwoven blouse. Rimzim Dadu, on the other hand, offsets the silvery grey colour with white in Sonam’s tie-up kurta set.

How should you style this colour? Let the celebrities show you themselves.
