Christian Louboutin has made a foray into beauty products with the launch of ‘Rouge Louboutin’: it’s as red as the soles of his iconic footwear. “The red sole was born from red nail polish. I am giving back to the nails what the shoe took from the nails many years ago,” says Louboutin, who used nail enamel to paint the sole of a pair of shoes he was working on in 1993, and it’s been a fixture on all his creations since. Modelled after the tallest heel the French designer ever made, the ‘Ballerina Ultima’, the eight-inch high bottle comes with a tall, slender cap and a triangular brush that ensures smooth application without any air bubbles.
‘Rouge Louboutin’ is the first of 30 shades; the remaining 29 will hit stores in a month’s time and come with smaller caps and in transparent bottles. The entire collection is divided into three colour groups: Pop, Nude and Noir. David Lynch even made a trippy, surreal film about the polish, which you can view here.
‘Rouge Louboutin’ will hit stores in India by the end of August.
