We noticed something odd about Deepika’s debut at the New York Fashion Week
When in New York, do as New Yorkers do
The promotions spree of xXx: Return of Xander Cage has wrapped up, but the US isn’t quite ready to give Deepika Padukone back yet. The actor was spotted taking in some high fashion at Michael Kors’s front row at the ongoing New York Fashion Week.
And well, since fashion weeks are all about seeing and being seen, a lot was riding on Deepika’s choice of outfit du jour. Her previous Monisha Jaising outing at the MTV EMAs drew mixed reactions, but we think the cynics will be lining up, hat in hand, right about now.
In a navy trench dress from the designer, Deepika walked tall in two-toned platform heels. The one thing that made this look really catch our attention though? The complete absence of accessories. It would have been easy to add a dash of colour to the nautical colour palette, but there was nary a midi ring or bracelet in sight. The lack of accessories, instead, draws attention squarely to her luscious waves and natural flush. Factor in those toned pins and Deepika cemented her status as a seasoned NYFW front rower, next to Emily Rajatkowski.
How have Bollywood celebrities fared in the past at the hottest fashion venue in New York? Have a look.
Prabal Gurung's Spring/Summer 2017 presentation witnessed Jacqueline Fernandez in the front row, sitting pretty in a monochrome number and pointed-toe booties.
Sunny Leone became the first Bollywood actress to walk the NYFW runway for designer Archana Kochhar in an ivory number and pigtails.
Priyanka Chopra turned up to support Thakoon in a printed number that was equal parts pretty and sexy.
We didn't know what we were missing until we saw Priyanka Chopra working this pepto-pink number at Altuzarra.
