Lakmé Fashion Week’s Summer/Resort 2016 leg is going to be high on shine. With wearable fashion and tech brand ElektroCouture coming on board, sustainable clothing and Lakmé’s new Illuminate range of make-up and skincare, we can’t wait to see what the season has in store. Designer Rohit Bal will showing at the grand finale, and it’s one collection we’re very keen to see. We caught up with the designer, and goaded him into dropping hints:
ELLE: What’s the theme for your collection this season?
Rohit Bal: “My clothes aren’t following the theme of illumination, but the entire show, the set-up, the feel, the location, the make-up, will be illuminating – but also very happy in terms of the mood. We’re using a lot of gold, ivory, but also bright colours – it’s a celebration, really. Styling will be contemporary but still Indian, the clothes remain traditional as they always do.”
ELLE: Is there something new that you’re trying with this collection?
RB: “We’re trying three-four different techniques with every piece, they’re not obtrusive. You won’t be able to tell when you see them on the ramp. We will be keeping some clothes out on display so that viewers can have a look at the actual technique and detail that’s gone into the making.”
ELLE: What should we look out for when watching your show?
RB: “Very high on glamour, very red carpet appropriate. Indian red carpet, might I add. It’s not just going to be high glam, it’ll be a very happy high glam.”
ELLE: What are you looking forward to the most?
RB: “We’re using some incredible high-tech lighting, something that’s never been done at any Indian show before. That’s going to be very exciting.”
