6 of Deepika’s hottest red carpet looks and the designers behind them
The more you know

Ashish
London-based Indian designer Ashish Gupta will have you know that he takes sequins very seriously, so much so that they've become his brand's signature now. "When I started using sequins on clothes they were regarded as cheap embellishment, but I always thought they were an art form. Working with sequins is quite technical, involving a totally different way of working with the fabric," he told Telegraph in an interview.

Sabyasachi
Deepika and Sabyasachi have a history of collaborating with one noteworthy look after another. This beaded tulle shift dress is no exception. Decadence, with a heavy dose of vintage glamour, has become synonymous with the designer.

Johanna Ortiz
Hillary Clinton may have laid claim on all things pantsuit for the foreseeable future, but Deepika's Johanna Ortiz number presented a fresh case for the outfit that is usually reserved for occasions that are, to put it politely, bleh. Ortiz, who burst onto the global fashion scene in 2014, takes inspiration from her Colombian roots for designs that are sultry and feminine. Her signature elements include ruffles and statement sleeves. Even Beyonce is a fan.

Stella McCartney
Easy silhouettes that put comfort before anything else are perhaps the key feature to look for when trying to spot a Stella McCartney piece. Signature Stella McCartney clothing includes slouchy, oversized clothing which does explain the oddly-fitted red concoction at the London premiere. While the jury is still out whether twinning with the red carpet in this gown was one of Deepika's finer fashion moments or a straight-up disaster, it is safe to say that we are glad that she is taking chances.

Christopher Kane
All of 34 but with a cult-like following among fashion insiders, the London-based Scottish designer's quiet demeanour belies his influence in the industry. You'll remember his gaping gorilla prints from Fall/Winter 2009 that were spotted in every street style shoot. Among the celebrities who love his work are Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone and Victoria Beckham.

Naeem Khan
We were already rooting for all things metallic when we saw Deepika in this gold Naeem Khan number for the Mumbai premiere recently. Naeem Khan has a pretty illustrious fan club, including Michelle Obama, Kate Middleton and Queen Noor of Jordan (to name a few). The Indian-American designer is known for his preference for slinky gowns and embellished surfaces.

A study in metallics or pantsuits with a twist, Deepika Padukone's varied looks from the xXx: Return of Xander Cage promotional tour have not disappointed. The actress kicked off her tour in Mexico in a Johanna Ortiz pantsuit, hair straightened in keeping with the trend currently ruling red carpets. For the recently held event in Mumbai, she started out in a Sabyasachi dress, then changed into a Naeem Khan gown and ended the extravaganza with a sequinned fringe dress by Ashish.
