A closer look at all of Priyanka Chopra’s beautiful wedding outfits

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas tied the knot last weekend at the grand Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. The couple held two wedding ceremonies to honour their respective faiths. Nick’s father Paul Kevin Sr, a pastor, officiated their Christian wedding while the couple also held a traditional Hindu ceremony.

For the Christian ceremony, Priyanka and Nick picked Ralph Lauren designs. Fitting, since the couple were first photographed together at the Met Gala last year, both dressed by Ralph Lauren and seated at the same table. The iconic designer has only previously designed three wedding dresses in 50 years, all for family members. Which makes Priyanka’s gown all the more special.

According to People, Lauren hand-delivered a sketch of the dress to Priyanka, who instantly fell in love with it. And why wouldn’t she? The intricate dress was hand-beaded and hand-embroidered, featuring floral and scroll motifs, lace-effect tulle appliqués, scalloped sleeves and a high-neck collar. The embroidery took a total of 1,826 hours to complete.

That’s not all. Underneath the gown was a strapless column dress made up of 23,80,000 mother of pearl sequins. The long tulle veil was a stunning 75-feet long. Priyanka paired the dress with custom Jimmy Choo shoes.

Priyanka made the dress personal by making sure the gown featured hand-stitched words and phrases including Nick’s full name (Nicholas Jerry Jonas), their wedding date, and her parents’ names (Madhu and Ashok). The gown also incorporated a piece of lace from mother-in-law Denise’s wedding dress.

The Hindu wedding ceremony saw Priyanka don a custom red Sabyasachi lehenga. According to Sabyasachi, 110 embroiderers from Calcutta took 3,720 hours to create it. It featured hand-embroidered and hand-cut organza flowers, French knots in silk floss, delicate siam-red crystals and layer upon layer of thread-work embroidery. The accompanying jewellery was crafted with uncut diamonds, emeralds and Japanese cultured pearls in 22 karat gold and had delicate tiny stars in uncut diamonds, which added an element of whimsy to an otherwise traditional piece. The jewellery was an ode to the royal Mughal style.

After their wedding in Jodhpur, Priyanka and Nick held a reception party in Delhi, for which the bride went with a custom Falguni and Shane Peacock beaded outfit. The champagne-hued lehenga took 80 craftsmen, 12,000 man hours and millions of crystals to complete. The bride opted for jewellery from Khanna Jewellers to finish the look.
