Model and actress Disha Patani slowly made her way into our consciousness with her appearance in the Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk commercial (remember the one where she keeps letting the air out of unsuspecting balloons because she was mad at her boyfriend? Yeah, that one). Then we knew her as the girl from that music video that also starred Tiger Shroff, who may or may not be her boyfriend. But her big Bollywood break came with M.S. Dhoni: the Untold Story, where she made people sit up and take notice. Since then, she has amassed a massive following both on social media and in real life. She is also starring in the multi-lingual film Kung Fu Yoga with Jackie Chan. Here’s what we chatted about at the celebration for Cover Story’s A/W ’16 collection.
ELLE: What’s your 5-minute beauty routine?
Disha Patani: I usually like to clean my face and follow it up with a face oil or a moisturiser. I really like Kiehl’s skincare line.
ELLE: Who are the designers or labels you want to add to your wardrobe?
DP: I really like Cover Story’s collection, especially the black lace dress which makes for an effortless choice for casual eveningwear. I am not really into designer wear, however if I had to choose, I would wear something from Manish Malhotra or Falguni & Shane Peacock. I also really admire Swapnil Shinde’s collections.
ELLE: How would you describe your personal style?
DP: I am not really into labels or brands, what’s important is how you style it. I prefer simple and easy-to-wear clothes. To sum it up, my personal style is comfortable, sexy and sporty.
ELLE: What’s the last thing you splurged on?
DP: I like things that are close to my heart. For instance, the evil eye bracelet I wear on my hand.
ELLE: What are the 3 red carpet tricks you’ve mastered?
DP: The perfect smile, which is not too wide or doesn’t look too contrived. Also, you need to know what’s the best way to pose in a dress, best to avoid strange angles. The lights at various events are usually very strong, not-too-bright makeup or sharp highlights are avoidable.
ELLE: What items from Cover Story’s latest collection would we find in your wardrobe?
DP: The black lace dress, a long berry off-shoulder maxi dress, a blue pencil skirt and some casual t-shirts.
ELLE: Who is the most charming actor in Bollywood? An actor who also happens to be a fantastic dancer and someone with an irresistible smile, maybe?
DP: Shah Rukh Khan, Tiger Shroff and Ranbir Kapoor
