“For me designing wasn’t a conscious decision; more like a natural progression,” says Deepika Padukone. The statuesque star recently launched her second capsule collection for Van Heusen, which exemplifies “a summer of luxury,” enhanced further by the campaign location – Sicily.
“The idea was to create something luxurious for any place a woman might find herself this summer,” she adds, whether at a champagne lunch or summer soirée. Expect sheath dresses with scooped backs, lots of texture play and lightweight suits.
Talking about coming together with the corporate clothing brand, Padukone says it was a similar fashion aesthetic that drew them together. “When I met the team and saw their collections and campaigns, I instinctively felt that Van Heusen would do justice to my vision. Our style is very alike – chic, elegant and effortless.”
The limited edition collection is available exclusively at select Van Heusen stores.
