In what’s being touted as one of the most expensive weddings of all time, Dubai-based businessman Adel Sajan (son of Danube Group tycoon Rizwan Sajan) married beauty queen Sana Khan. How expensive, you ask? Why, just $30 million, or the GDP of a small Caribbean country.
So what does a budget like that buy the happy couple? For starters, a Dil Dadakhne Do-inspired cruise wedding sailing along the Mediterranean sea from Genoa to Barcelona, Marseilles and Cannes with 1000 guests on board. According to the press release (yes, they put out a press release) the decor included 1000 tulips from Holland, 20,000 red roses and 1000 hydrangea flowers from Ecuador. Michelin-starred chef Fabio Cucchelli crafted a 13-tier wedding cake that towered 3.5 metres over the couple for the customary ‘white’ party.
For their sangeet night, the couple chose a small-time rapper who you may have heard of, goes by the name ‘Badshah’…
And of course, what’s a grand Bollywood-themed wedding without actual Bollywood stars. The guest list included Malaika Arora Khan, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Dia Mirza, Juhi Chawla and Sushmita Sen, among other folks who have no family connection to the Sajans.
If you must know, the wedding trousseau was designed by Neeta Lulla, and included an LED dress that glowed in the dark. Because, why not?
