At an age when most people feel awkward about their bodies and confused about their sexuality, Canadian college student Mina Gerges displays a confidence that’s enviable. Can he bottle it? And can I buy it?
Gerges, who runs the Instagram account @keepingupwithmina, posts pictures of him dressed as various female style icons at their fiercest, on the red carpet, in music videos or in fashion spreads. He declares he’s Kardashian obsessed and says on Twitter: “my mom told me she hates @KimKardashian, so now I hate my mom.” Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Rihanna and Lady Gaga are also frequent muses.
Buzzfeed quotes him as saying he wanted these pictures to get people thinking about “Photoshop extremes” and how they feed unrealistic body images. Hinting perhaps at bullying in his past, Gerges writes this caption accompanying his turn as Beyonce in a crown and studded bra: “Today I turn 20. If there’s one thing I learned in my life so far, it’s that people will make fun of you for being different. But that’s what people do when they’re jealous of you. So to anyone who hates: I can’t help it that you’re jealous of me. #Queen”
Seriously, when did 20-year-olds get so cool?
