ELLE review: Gaurav Gupta at Amazon India Couture Week 2015
The designer's metallic creations were straight out of a fantasy
As Gaurav Gupta told us earlier this week, one of the inspirations for his Amazon India Couture Week 2015 collection was an enchanted forest. That was evident in the staging, which saw white branches undulating over the stage, forming an alcove in the middle where models stood. With their pale, glittering makeup, they looked like wood nymphs. Gupta’s silk, silver and champagne-toned dresses, saris and lehengas completed the effect, with their golden creeping-vine embroidery. Painted–on silhouettes, sheer chanderi and organza provided the sex appeal that Gupta has become known for. Kalki Koechlin ended the show in a voluminous pink-gold gown, with layers that fell in waves, and equally voluminous hair.
