A celebrity makeup artist in Bollywood, he’s worked his magic on Aditi Rao Hydari, Malaika Arora, Alia Bhatt and more. Ahead of his participation at the three-day virtual event, find out his answers to our quick rapid fire.
ELLE: One makeup trend that you will never get tired of?
Elton Fernandez (EF): A basic healthy, glowing and balmy skin. Healthy skin can never run out of style. Skin that reflects a good diet, good exercise, and good emotional bend is really nice.
ELLE: What are your thoughts on men wearing makeup on a regular basis?
EF: I think beauty and fashion grooming needs to take on a gender-neutral language and application. Anybody who wants to express themselves can access imagination through colour, structure and lines of makeup.
ELLE: If given a chance, which celebrity’s makeup would you like to do and why?
EF: I would say Cate Blancett because I am absolutely in awe of her. She is a wonderful and wholesome actor with nuanced roles. I have a huge amount of admiration, love and respect for Cate. She is very sophisticated, stylish and carries a sort of elegance which I like.
ELLE: Makeup trends you foresee gaining momentum in fall 2021?
EF: Bare skin with pops of colour on the mouth. Just clean, hydrated skin. Or just a simple little wash of colour around the eye (it could be in different shapes). Another trend is mismatched eye shadow, which I personally quite like because it helps express yourself out of the box without being bizarre or distasteful. It can be symmetric, well balanced, or one warm colour and one cool colour.
