At the ELLE Beauty Weekender presented by Tata CliQ, we are celebrating all things beauty with Paula Begoun. A beauty guru and founder of the iconic brand Paula’s Choice, she is also an author of 24 books. After spending 40 years doing research in skincare ingredients, Paula is called the cosmetics cop. Ahead of her participation at the three-day virtual event, join us in a rapid-fire with her.
ELLE: What are your thoughts on genderless beauty?
Paula Begoun (PB): When it comes to skincare, skin is skin, and gender doesn’t make a difference, but if you have a beard, that does change things in terms of your routine.
ELLE: A beauty advice you would give to your 16-year-old self?
PB: Wear sunscreen, don’t sit in the sun, and don’t get a tan!
ELLE: What was the last beauty treatment you had?
PB: Other than my daily skincare routine, I never get beauty treatments. I do get cosmetic procedures such as Botox and fillers.
ELLE: The last thing you do before turning off the lights?
PB: Play one of my video games and put on my lip balm.
ELLE: What’s the craziest thing you’ve done in the name of beauty?
PB: I’m 68 years old, so I’ve had time to do lots of things, especially when I was young and didn’t know better, all too embarrassing to share. Thankfully I haven’t done anything crazy for years!
