Breaking gender roles in fashion and beauty with his suave style, join us as we play a quick rapid-fire with him.

ELLE: What does beauty mean to you personally?

Rahi Chadda (RC): Beauty for me has evolved. It’s very personal and as I change, my idea and application of beauty shifts. For me, beauty starts from within and is reflected in your outer appearance, I do this by staying healthy and taking care of myself. Staying healthy in your mental and physical health certainly helps.

ELLE: What are your thoughts on genderless beauty?

RC: I love the debate surrounding the definition of gender within beauty. We’ve come so far in our mindset of abolishing labels, to understanding and appreciating the concept of freedom. People should feel free and confident in how they want to take care of themselves, the products they want to apply. For a more literal approach, we could break it down into skincare and makeup. Lots of skincare products today cater to everyone. The same applies to makeup. It’s about expressing the way you feel through the art of makeup and one should be allowed to do it, however, they want to. The whole concept of genderless beauty is a step in the right direction and feels liberating for many.

ELLE: A beauty advice you would give to your 16-year-old self?

RC: I suffered from horrible bouts of acne and fluctuating weight issues whilst growing up. It really wasn’t the best combination. So the advice I’d give to my younger self would be to just be. Learn to love and accept myself and not compare myself to others. It’ll all work out in the end.

ELLE: One beauty product you cannot live without?

RC: Currently, lip balm! Have to keep my lips hydrated, don’t I?!

ELLE: What do you see when you look in the mirror?

RC: A work in progress! I see myself looking wiser and happier as I age. I’m very accepting of what my body wants to show as my physical appearance!
