#ELLEFirstLook: Louis Vuitton’s New Monogram Jewellery Collection Takes Centrestage

Luxury’s ongoing, playful flirtation with monograms has been a long-standing one. Take Louis Vuitton’s instantly recognisable monogram flower ‘blossom’ for instance, which has been the subject of much innovation and artful application at the House’s ateliers. From scarves and jackets to trunks and totes, these blooms have been have been liberally showered throughout the much-loved collections season after season.

Designed in 1896 by Georges-Louis Vuitton, the four-petalled flower undergoes a modern reinterpretation in Louis Vuitton’s new bejewelled line. For her maiden collection titled ‘B Blossom’, the House’s Artistic Director for Watches and Jewellery, Francesca Amfitheatrof has put forth a fresh approach to the monogram. The new line sees the iconic flower spreading its sculptural curves and glorious petals over sensual spheres of agate, opal, onyx and malachites. The coloured stones romp with skillfully set diamonds and gold to form a medley of cheerful tones. The lineup includes earrings and ear studs, and bracelets and pendants that encourage layering.

Drawing inspiration from confident women who like to leave their mark in the world, the B Blossom collection combines strength with gentleness and audacity with refinement. Allowing the wearer’s personality to shine through the pieces lend themselves to experimentation through avariety of combinations across shapes, sizes and colours.

The delicate necklaces with small 11.5 mm pendants have been designed to catch light and sparkle with your every move. Four glistening diamonds complete the monogram flower and are set in rounded pendants in rose, pink and white gold, and polished green malachite. Believe us when we say that these dainty pieces not only work well solo but are a great sport when teamed with other necklaces of varying lengths.

The earrings co-operate beautifully as well. Whether you are in the mood for drops of luminous pink opal or studs in hand-polished black onyx and 18-karat gold, the dilemma is a pleasant one. Or on a whim, pick up a dazzling pair of golden links featuring modernist square drops of iridescent white mother-of-pearl and diamonds. If gemstones inlaid with the iconic motif, composed of brilliantly faceted diamonds is what your look demands, then B Blossom nails the brief. With her joyful collection, Amfitheatrof pampers the hands the most. Charm bracelets, cuffs, rings and bangles, all carry a promise to add a refreshing feminine energy to your day. With every movement of your arm there’s a glint of a diamond; the flower beckons attention.

Cast in 18-karat gold, the open-ended bracelets house the singular motifs in gemstones in black, green and soft pink. If you fancy something more ornamental, then permit the charms bracelets to work their magic. Squares and spheres hang pretty on the supple bracelets, in twos and threes. Going a notch chunkier, the cuff-bracelets flaunt a modern attitude with its five black onyx cabochons. As do the ones encrusted with raised monogram motifs, set with diamonds and surrounded by rich diamond pavé. Embodying the spirit of the House, the cuffs are hand-polished and engraved with the LV initials. Playing with width and colours, we can think of a number of ways to stack these arm candies. The rings make stacking fun too. The one to fetch guaranteed compliments is the 18-karat yellow-gold ring, set with a red-hued cornelian stone.

Exuding a much-needed playful vibe, the B Blossom collection is a suite of bold, modern jewels. Trust these beauties to bring your earlobe and wardrobe alive with equal aplomb.
