ELLE’s Carnival for a Cause: Mumbai edition
It was a Sunday well spent, shopping big brands while raising awareness for breast cancer
The ELLE Carnival for a Cause made its final stop at The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai this Sunday. A charitable venture by Ogaan Cancer Foundation to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, the event brought the city’s philanthropic side to the fore.
Guests indulged in retail therapy with designer wear from India’s top creative minds, including Sabyasachi, Ranna Gill, Payal Khandwala, Tarun Tahiliani, Nachiket Barve, Gaurav Gupta and Namrata Joshipura, amongst others – all sold at massive discounts. They were also invited to bid in a silent auction, to take home premium brands such as Christian Louboutin, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, as well as hotel vouchers from Le Méridien Al Aqah and Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre. Proceeds from all sales benefited the Ogaan Cancer Foundation.
Hungry shoppers were treated to a delicious spread that included red Thai curry, mini burgers, vegetable lasagna, wild pepper fish and a very popular live chaat counter. And in true carnival style, there was popcorn and candyfloss doing the rounds. Drinks courtesy Grey Goose, Peroni and Sula, and the musical sounds of Clayton and the Free Man Brothers, kept spirits high (and also helped loosen those purse strings). A handwriting expert, tarot card reader, nail artist and photo studio capped off the entertainment on the fun afternoon.
We spotted Esha Gupta, Amrita Puri, Neeta and Nishka Lulla, Devieka Bhojwani, Farrokh Chothia, Nandita Mahtani, Falguni and Shane Peacock and Ramona Arena, to name a few.
