WHAT: Kérastase Nutritive Masquintense

With the drop in temperature up north, the frizz in my hair was pretty much out of control. The Kérastase treatment promised to tame the dryness and leave me with a healthier, fuller mane. After a basic analysis, the treatment started with a relaxing shampoo using the Densifique Bain Densite to add texture to my thinning hair. Next, the stylist applied the Nutrition booster and Vita-Ciment Concentrate from the Fusio-Dose line that strengthened and nourished my hair fibre from the inside. She then coated the lengths of my hair with the Nutritive Masquintense – a mask with Irisome Complex that keeps dryness at bay – and infused it with a relaxing 10-minute steam. The treatment ended with a rinse and blow dry. The result? Softer, fuller hair that doesn’t frizz up as soon as I step out of the house, or even after.

After finally making it out of bed on a Saturday, I showed up at the salon for a repair treatment specially meant for dry, lifeless strands with split ends aka my hair. The treatment started with a soothing scalp massage using the Moroccanoil dry scalp treatment. The stylist then washed my hair with the Clarifying shampoo to get rid of everyday dirt and grime and applied the Restorative Repair mask on my scalp and lengths and rinsed it out. This was followed by a massage using the Weightless Hydrating Mask to give my hair body without weighing it down. After rinsing that out, she blow-dried my hair (after using a heat protectant, of course) and ended the treatment by running the signature Moroccanoil through the lengths. I left the salon intoxicated by the soothing argan oil aroma I had constantly been exposed to and a soft, repaired mane.

We like our salon treatments quick, easy and effective, and Label M’s Lab Remedy promises to tick all the boxes in under 15 minutes. Imagine a shot of protein, if you will, for your hair. It’s sprayed and left on for just about three minutes, after your hair has been conditioned – if your mop is super damaged like mine. A quick rinse follows, after which you start to see the results kick in. One blow dry and you’re set. Here’s how it works: For starters it’s vegan! The products feature proteins drawn from potatoes, peas and rice. Rice helps hold moisture and add volume, peas work to make the strands lustrous, and potatoes add strength. Bonus? The nutrients are drawn using the power of hot springs, which only means the product works like a charm. For dry or damaged hair and coloured hair, the treatment is recommended once a month, but if you have a dry and itchy scalp you could even go once a week. While you do see immediate results, give it at least three months for a dramatic turn-around bound to turn you into a compulsive (annoying) hair-flipper.
