7 coolest highlights from Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018

One of the biggest fashion spectacles, Lakmé Fashion Week is almost upon us, and this Winter/Festive 2018 edition is going to showcase 90 designers. From our very own ELLE Graduates 2018 show that will be launching three talented designers onto the globally-recognised platform to live entertainment company Cirque du Soleil debuting in India as part of the Lakmé Absolute grand finale, this season is going to be an unforgettable one. Here, we list the top 7 things that we can’t wait to watch:

1. ELLE Graduates 2018 showcase

 They’re gifted, they’re talented, and they’ve got ELLE’s stamp of approval. Three lucky designers — Clothing label Untitled Co., Studio Metallurgy and Divya Sheth — will be presenting their collections at Lakmé Fashion Week for the first time ever. Catch their show on August 22.

2. Good Earth announces their couture collection

Also on August 22, Good Earth will be expanding their offering to couture with a collection titled The Miniaturist, which celebrates the age-old art form of gota through clothes and even accessories. 

3. Tencel x Rajesh Pratap Singh’s show

August 23 marks Sustainable Fashion Day, and one of the major shows to keep an eye out for is the collaboration between Lenzing’s Tencel and designer Rajesh Pratap Singh. Look out for eco-friendly garments made out of yarns derived from sustainable wood sources. 

4. Label RmKV’s debut show

Renowned for their silk saris, south Indian label RmKV will be making their foray into Lakmé Fashion Week. Expect a collection featuring contemporary saris created using natural dyeing techniques as well as a modernised pneumatic handloom (MPHL) that aims to quicken the process of weaving.

5. Amit Aggarwal’s menswear collection

Ending day 3 with a bang is Amit Aggarwal’s collection, presented by NEXA, that takes inspiration from kinetic movements and energies, with the iconic NEXA lines playing a key influence. This year also sees the designer presenting his menswear line for the first time, with the modernised version of the recycled Phulkari textile being a special highlight.

6. Pankaj and Nidhi’s much-awaited return to LFW

Coming back to Lakmé Fashion Week after three long years, keep your eyes peeled for Pankaj and Nidhi’s showcase, presented by Nokia, on Day 4 of Lakmé fashion week. For this collection, the designer duo have borrowed inspiration from technology with hand-crafted precision, with the ensemble translating into “reflective embellishments that accentuate texture against sheen.”

7. The Grand Finale

Expect fireworks to fly at the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale by Monisha Jaising with Kareena Kapoor Khan as the showstopper. What’s more, global phenomenon Cirque du Soleil will be putting the ‘grand’ in Grand Finale with their newest show Bazzar.
