Celebrity make-up artist Namrata Soni is about to launch her very own YouTube channel, full of hair and make-up tutorials.
The artist who already has over 68.8k followers on Instagram felt the 15-second limit of the platform wasn’t enough to pack in all the info she wanted to send out – hence the new platform. “I wanted to put together tutorials [on an online platform] to give people access to these all year round,” says Soni.
It’s “real make-up, for real people,” she says, with very easy takeaways for the viewers. Adding that it covers the basics – how to find the right foundation for your skin type, how to do the smoky eye with just a kohl and eyeliner, how to create waterfall braids, what kinds of brushes to use, and so forth. By the end of the year, she’ll explore more “dramatic” themes.
“We’ve featured at least 12 different skin types and colours, because Indian skin tones are so diverse – most tutorials online tend to cover one or the other extreme,” says Soni.
The first set of videos (about 20) have been shot over the last three months, and will be rolled out starting sometime July. They’ve been shot at Soni’s home – and have a very DIY quality to them. “We’ve kept it very casual. Friends and colleagues who’re dealing with pigmentation or oily skin appear in the videos – I consciously worked with them because the models and actors I work with already have perfect skin,” Soni adds.
The videos will be embedded on Namratasoni.com and will also be available to stream on YouTube. Hold your breath because she promises: “ I’ll be giving away my secrets!”
