Okay, let’s face it: the only relationship we care about as the temperature drops is the one we share with our warm, cosy beds. And if fall/winter trends are any indication, we’re not the only ones longing to wallow in our duvets a tad longer. That’s right — throwing on quilts outside of your bed is now acceptable.
In line with blanket dressing and slouchy knitwear, the raised technique made evening and everyday clothing more comfortable. Flouncy skirts in candy colours, and structured tops and dresses came with a dash of padding at Dior, while Temperley London sought to renew red-carpet dressing with micro-quilting on evening wear; we especially loved the cobalt blue snuggly coat. Donna Karan shielded against the winter frost with puffer jackets; Karl Lagerfeld made flamboyant scarves at Chanel; Isabel Marant paired leather pants with basics; and Max Mara layered quilt and coat.
