Black tea is packed with antioxidants that protect your skin and hair from UV rays and free radical damage. It’s also rich in tannic acid, which a natural acne and bacteria fighter, and caffeine, which tightens skin. As with all remedies, it’s best to do a patch test before going all in. If you’d like to know how to include this pantry staple into your beauty routine, scroll on…
Hair rinse
This solution will darken hair, strengthen it and prevent hair fall.
How to: Make a cold brew rinse by soaking three tea bags in one litre of water overnight. The next day, strain the mixture and pour it on your scalp after shampooing. Massage it in and let it sit for 20 minutes, then wash it off and condition as usual.
Face De-puffer
The Netflix binge and erratic sleep hours are not kind to our health and face. If you’re dealing with an exhausted bloated face, create your own tea compress.
How to: Soak two tea bags and pop them into the freezer for 20 minutes. Then, gently rub them all over your face to reduce puffiness.
Body scrub
Loofahs and dry brushes are great but there’s nothing like a good, customizable homemade scrub that gives your skin just what it needs. This one will get rid of dryness and make your skin super soft.
How to: Mix damp tea leaves (after de-puffing your face), 3 tablespoons of sugar and a dash of coconut oil for an exfoliating body scrub.
