A good pair of sunnies make for the perfect fashion statement, and who better than the industry’s most stylish father-daughter duo to embody this style mantra.. Sonam K Ahuja and Anil Kapoor are now the brand ambassadors of eyewear label, Scott Eyewear. “The campaign with Scott Eyewear is extremely special to me because it’s a first for me, with my dad. I believe cool accessories are what set you and your style apart from others, I love the new summer range from Scott,” said Sonam.
From Jackie O’s iconic pair to the signature cat eye, glares have had a unique style evolution through the years. In fact, men’s styles have also varied over time—from the James Dean-inspired wayfarers to the Top Gun-esque aviators. Unlike a lot of fashion accessories, sunglasses have never been season-pecific; As long as the sun is shining, you’ll probably need a pair. That’s why one needs to invest in something functional and stylish, and Sonam agrees too. “One of my most important accessories is a good pair of glares and optics, be it travel or outdoors or a style statement, shades are equally important for men and women.”
Last season, small-framed sunglasses ruled the runways, however things are a little different this year. What’s trending, according to the actress? “The round cut-away frame with sleek metal temples are the ultimate definition of minimalism that meets ultra-glam. The glasses feature two-tone lenses and are embellished with characteristic hinges. I am in love with them as they give me the perfect look that I desire.”
Anil Kapoor adds, “For men, sunglasses help them stand out from the crowd for their genuine, bold spirit. My favourite would be the square frames paired with polarised lenses and sleek temples. Experiment with colours which interpret your style statement that is modern, fashionable and contemporary.”
Classics remain classics, and that’s why Sonam still loves acetate frames, but she’s opting for thinner frames over thick-rimmed ones this season. “Practically, thin acetate frames are durable, lightweight and wearable all day opposed to their heavier counterparts. These frames come in all shapes and sizes. Transparent barely-there colours like translucent pinks, taupes, greys, citrines and browns, coupled with the thin acetate frame are a match made in retro heaven.”
