Flashback fashion: Hello, ’90s
There’s no doubt that this ska diva’s sense of style is one for the ages. Her red lipstick, platinum blonde hair and midriff-baring ensembles are just as relevant now as they were back in the ’90s. Making a comeback is Stefani’s staple - the crop top (unfortunately it doesn’t come with her killer abs) - and we’re all over it. Never one to shy away from risks, this eternal rocker shows us how to own a sari (ditch the blouse, opt for a cut-off tee) and an updo that was cool way before Miley.
Get the look: Raid your mom’s closet for one of her old saris, slip on a pair of flatforms and add a bindi for good measure.

RACHEL GREEN from Friends
Growing up, if you didn’t want to be like Rachel Green, then that makes one of you. The classic girl-next-door, Green had it all: the hot nerdy boyfriend, the perfect hair and as a buyer for Ralph Lauren, a pretty enviable fashion sense. Even dressed down in dungarees, a striped tee and sneakers, she still managed to look cute as a button. Much to our surprise, this relic from our childhood is back: overalls made their presence felt at the DKNY and Rag & Bone runways this season. The only question is, will you double-strap it or single?
Get the look: Wear these three-quarter-length dungarees in light denim with a cotton tank and a casual blazer and you’re ready for your playdate… er date.
Cotton striped top, Rs 590, Zara, Denim dungarees, Rs 2,999, Pepe Jeans, Two-tone satin blazer, Rs 67,325, Cédric Charlier at Net–a-Porter.com, Superstar Ii Is sneakers, Rs 6,999, adidas Originals
Oops she did it again. Yes, Britney wore an outfit so outlandish, it actually worked. A burnished cropped jacket, sparkly snake-print pants (and don’t miss the metallic eyeshadow) – the girl likes to shine. All of 16 when she took the music world by storm, she was the reason we all got into trouble at school for knotting our shirts in the front. Want to channel some of her stardom? Browse through the high-sheen racks at Givenchy, Gareth Pugh, Lanvin and Dries Van Noten this season.
Get the look: The snake-print pants go perfectly with this metallic bomber jacket and chunky wedges.

CARRIE BRADSHAW from Sex & the City
Step aside Mr Big, Carrie Bradshaw’s first love will always be Manolo… with Fendi coming a close second. TV’s ultimate fashionista, Bradshaw had a closet that was a Pandora’s box of style: you never knew what was coming next. In this look, she channels her softer side and opts for a flowy floral print dress in a pastel palette. A spring staple, flower power is back again, taking over the Spring/Summer 2014 runways at Moschino, Dolce&Gabbana, Marni, Hermès, Carven and more.
Get the look: Pair this chiffon floral-print dress with Bradshaw’s most trusted companion – her Fendi baguette – and add a chain necklace, preferably with your name on it.
Floral print chiffon dress, Rs 81,290, RED Valentino at Net-a-Porter.com, Baby pink Monster Baguette bag, Rs 72,430, Fendi, T-Strap sandals, Rs 5,999, Charles & Keith, Stardust Pentagon necklace, Rs 1300, Pippa + Bella
From flatforms to dungarees, the Spring/Summer 2014 runways are reviving some of our favourite (and most cringe-worthy) fashion moments from the past. ELLE selects our five favourite '90s girls – and shows you how to get their look. Childhood dream realised? Check.
CHER HEROWITZ from Clueless
When Cher Herowitz was held at gunpoint and pushed to the ground, all she could do was widen her baby blues and gaze wistfully at her dress: “You don’t understand – this is an Alaïa. It’s like a totally important designer.” For this and more, we loved the superficial but endearing teenager from Beverly Hills. And of course, for her spot-on sartorial choices. Who else could pull off a yellow tartan pleated skirt with a matching blazer? This season, Oscar de la Renta, Balmain and Holly Fulton reprised the classic skirt suit in a variety of prints, from houndstooth to geometric patterns.
Get the look: Since most of us can’t carry off yellow plaid quite like Herowitz, opt for a skirt suit in a more understated colour and pair it with a classic boat neck tee. Now if only we had her rotating closet and ‘Dress Me’ computer program.
