Get Alia’s look from Dear Zindagi
Costume designer Anaita Shroff Adajania shares her cheatsheet with us
Ever since Alia Bhatt first flitted across our screens in the trailer of Dear Zindagi, we’ve been itching to get our hands on those boho prints and kitschy florals. We picked costume designer Anaita Shroff Adajania’s brain on how she came up with the look.
“As an independent girl staying in Mumbai, we worked on keeping it simple," says Adajania, adding, "The wardrobe follows her emotional journey through the movie and steadily grows more colourful. We restricted our colour palette to lighter hues and stayed away from primary colours altogether."
Her daily beauty routine followed the same train of thought, relying largely on brown smudged eyeliner and tinted lip balm.
If you're looking to steal Alia's look, take note: “Light layering is key,” explains Anaita. “Throw a kimono jacket over your shorts or an open shirt over a printed cami to look stylish while you are on the move. Alia’s printed Free People jacket works brilliantly with a slogan tee from Pull & Bear.”
