You may know Gordon Ramsay as the man who reduces full-grown adults to tears. You may also know him as the star of brutal cooking memes that you have forwarded to that friend who burns water. But what you may not know about Gordon Ramsay is that the man is essentially the front-runner for Parent Of The Year and has the perfect plan for making sure his kids don’t grow up to be spoiled brats.
Gordon Ramsay won’t leave his fortune to his kids
In an interview with the Telegraph, Ramsay admitted that his kids are not allowed to eat in his expensive restaurants, or allowed to travel first class even when the whole family is flying together. “They don’t sit with us in first class. They haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that. At that age, at that size, you’re telling me they need to sit in first class? No, they do not. We’re really strict on that,” he explained, adding that he even leaves instructions with the flight crew not to let his kids disturb him and wife Tana.
The celebrity chef also insisted that he was not about to just hand over his hard-earned fortune, estimated at approximately $160 million according to Forbes, to his children. “It’s definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way; it’s to not spoil them. The only thing I’ve agreed with Tana is they get a 25 per cent deposit on a flat, but not the whole flat.”
Gordon’s approach is quite a departure from the Indian parenting manual — where birth equals entitlement to the family wealth — but is refreshing in that it forces his children to take responsibility for their own lives.
Just give the man the award, already.
