The interiors of The Storytellers’ Bar channels the former French colony’s colonial past, while also paying tribute to the inherent spirituality of the region with its minimal asceticism. The standout feature is the Wall Of Stories, which has souvenirs, props and interesting anecdotes left by travellers and locals passing through.
The food
Everything that makes its way on to your plate at the bar is artisanal and sourced locally. The menu, a blend of French-Tamil cuisine, features some of the region’s best-known fare, such as cheese that’s made a short distance away in the spiritual centre of Auroville. Don’t miss executive chef Sathish Rajshekar’s seafood either, especially the grilled sand lobster with sweet potato chips.
The drinks
It’s a universal truth that a watering hole is only as good as its cocktails—and The Storytellers’ Bar doesn’t disappoint. We recommend you start with The Lighthouse, their special elderberry-infused gin. It’s refreshing, especially after you’ve spent hours lounging poolside in the fierce southern sun.
